District Champion and 4th Overall at the Giro d'Elkofen

Last Sunday, July 14, 2024, saw the return of a true classic: the Giro d'Elkofen. The event is hosted by RSC Elkofen, the home club of one of our own team riders, Andy Bartmann.

The starting grid this year was packed with elite, high-speed racers from all over Bavaria. Representing the CSBikes Road Team were Flo and Chris. Unfortunately, they were our only two starters, as the rest of the squad’s strong performances in the first half of the year meant they were no longer eligible for "Everyman" (amateur) category races.

The pace was red-hot from the gun. Flo and Chris turned up the heat from minute one, pushing the tempo in an attempt to control the race. Our toughest competition on the day was Team Schranz 04. While we are familiar with them from the Munich scene and usually hold the upper hand, their sheer numbers—eight riders strong—made them incredibly difficult to keep in check.

As expected, Schranz launched attack after attack, trying to send a solo rider up the road. Every counter-attack and bridge attempt we made was systematically shut down by their superior team numbers. Eventually, it became clear that the peloton was fighting "only" for second place overall.

In the final sprint, the knives were out. Flo fought hard to secure 4th place. While there’s a bit of disappointment at narrowly missing the podium, we know we left everything out on the road. We head into the second half of the season with our heads held high—especially with the title of "2024 Ebersberg District Champion" in the bag!

A massive congrats to Schranz 04 on a strong team performance; we’ll be looking for our revenge at the next race.
